Theresa,
Yes they are! Coleman was the son of William Isaac Sherrill ( 1834- 1916), Wm. Isaac was the son of Jonathan & Sarah "Sally" Yates Sherrill.
My gg grandfather (Wm. Isaac) was the brother of Sarah. Was Louisa Ann Pennington a descendant of the Chandlers? I don't have my file in front of me but the name sounds familier.

Tina,
I have the Thomas Lucas Family Study from Brown County, Indiana Genealogical
Society. Thomas Lucas b. 20 Feb 1785 Virginia d. 20 or 23 Feb 1864,
married Nancy Lake b. ca 1794 Virginia D 3 June 1862 Monroe Co., Indiana.
Both are buried in Mt. Ebal Cemetery, Smithville, Monroe Co.Indiana.
The Sherrill connection:
#1.) Thomas Lloyd Lucas (Sr.) & Nancy Lake had 10 children, their 2nd born
was named Thomas Lloyd Lucas, (Jr.)
#2.) Thomas Lucas, Jr. married Louisa Ann Penington, they had 11 children,
their first born son was James Lowery Lucas (known as "Lowery")
#3.) James Lowery Lucas married Julia Anna Moore, they had 12 children,
their 6th child, daughter Julia Etta Lucas.(**NOTE James is brother to my
great great grandfather, Pleasant Mitchell Lucas)
#4.) Julia Etta Lucas b. 19 Oct 1878 married Monroe Shields on 23 Aug 1896.
Monroe Shields is the Sherrill connection:
Jonathan and Sarah Sherrill from Indiana, their daughter,
Sarah Sherrill (1842-1897) marries Thomas Nesbit Shields, their son is
Monroe Shields. Info on Monroe Shields is: b. 8 Jan 1876 in Indiana.
Monroe (this is from Brown County Genealogical Society Book) abandoned his
family in 1912, moved to Calif.(See note*) the date and place of his death
and burial is not available. They had 7 children. (This data in the Brown
County Book says, "data from Alma Lucas, neice of Etta.)
**Note:In regard to Monroe Shields who left his wife and children and went
to Calif., His granddaughter, Mary Jane Shields. (Mrs. David David), stated
in 1989 that Monroe became an insurance agent, sent money back home and kept
in touch with his children. His wife, Etta, did not want to leave Brown
County, Indiana to join Monroe after he had done well enough in his business
to have her join him in Calif.
Are these Sherrill's, YOUR Sherrill's?
Thanks,
Theresa Weddell

have made the burial arrangements, but they didn't. I called all of the
Funeral Homes in Indianapolis that were in business in the 1930's and on the
side of town they lived in, everyone of them were kind enough to check their
records and call me back but none had records of Coleman Sherrill.

possible to buy a casket from a funeral home or a casket company.
> Even now there is no law that says a person must be embalmed, a funeral
home will not let you have a viewing in their chapel without embalming, but
you can do so in your home without embalming. (My daughter is a Funeral
Sciences student) Some religions don't believe in embalming. We had a
graveside service for my step father in 1996 & we didn't have him embalmed.

(they have my paternal grandmothers spelled wrong) & though they have an
index at the Marion County Health Department they wouldn't let me look at it
for the older records, but said I was allowed to look at the newer records
(?)!
> I'll continue looking thru death notices, from 1930 -1933, I have been
looking thru the dates of 1934-1938.
