Bloomington (IN) Saturday Courier, Feb 23, 1884, p. 1.

Gen. William T. Spicely died last Friday night at the Franklin Hotel in New
Albany of paralysis after an illness of two days. He was a gallant soldier
of the Mexican and late wars, a gentlemen of the most genial traits of
character, a businessman of enterprise, and a citizen widely known
throughout Indiana. His residence was at Orleans, Orange County, whither
his body was taken for burial.
