I've been doing some research in preparation for the genealogy workshop to
be held on October 27. In the course of that research I have come across
some microfilm at the Monroe County Public Library. It has not been
indexed or catalogued.

Apparently sometime in the sixties there was a call for people to bring
into the library things of genealogical significance. The library promised
to microfilm the material and "keep it forever." The material was copied
as it was presented so the order is very fragmented.

The new librarian, Pam Wasmer, has been working to log all of the odd bits
into a notebook behind the reference desk in the Indiana Room. The
notebook represents several hundred rolls of microfilm.

I took a look at a couple of rolls yesterday and what I found was very
interesting. Today I will be sharing a few tidbits that I thought might be
of interest to list members. If you get a chance to visit the library, I
suggest you take a look at the notebook and acquaint yourself with some of
the information noted there.
