Bloomington (IN) Republican Progress, Feb 18, 1885, p. 3.
Married at the residence of the bride's parents in this city on Thursday
morning, Feb. 12, Miss Laura Mobley, daughter of Charles A. Mobley, the dry
goods merchant, to Dr. Morton Compton of Evansville, Ind., Rev. A. B.
Phiput officiating.
Only a few of the immediate friends of the family were present, but those
invited report a royal time. Miss Laura is one of the neatest and
handsomest girls of which Bloomington boasts not a few. She was dressed in
(a) bronze green traveling suit with hat to match and looked lovely, as all
brides ought to. Mrs. Compton, the groom's mother, and Mrs. McCoy and Mr.
Fred Compton, sister and brother of the groom, were present from
Evansville. The young couple go to Evansville and New Orleans on their
bridal tour.
