The descendants of William Isaac & Catherine Chandler Sherrill,
Isaac N. & Sarah Beck Shirrel, Isaac Wesley Sherrill and Elijah & Mary Sherrill Litten attended the First Indiana Sherrill Reunion!
There were a lot of people and a lot of food! We had over 100 people, about 70 in the group photo. Bob from Oklahoma brought his grandpa, Jonathan Shirrels trunk, it was very interesting! It had his bible, photos, old letters, his store ledger and bank checks from when Oklahoma was still Indian Territory.

I gave framed awards to Velma Ayers, Tom Sherrill and Bill Sherrill for all their help. They have answered my endless questions and shared freely their old family photos, memories and family stories. They made our ancestors come alive for us, thanks to them they are now more than just names and dates.

The prize for coming the farthest; Ann ( from Texas) , Bob who came from Daytona Beach, Florida. Bob & Ida came from Oklahoma.

The prize for youngest was won by Keeghan of Indiana.

The prize for the oldest at the reunion was won by Charlotte of Indiana.

We drew from the family group sheets that were mailed back with the rsvp's and Russells (of Indiana) name was drawn!

The prizes were Family Tree charts from the Monroe County Historical Society Gift Shop.

We had a Chandler Book donated by Judy Hudson, a framed watercolor and two saws with country scenes painted by Velma Sherrill Ayers donated for the raffle. Ida of Oklahoma won the painting, Laura of Indiana won one of the saws, Jonna won the other saw and Helen of Indiana won the Chandler Book ( she says she wished she hadn't won it, because she can't put the darn thing down!)

I have allergies and can't yell loud enough for everyone to hear me but lucky for us my cousin Karen Sue "Susie" was there. Boy can she yell! She called out the winning numbers drawn for the raffles and gathered everyone for photos. Susie also said grace for the meal it was touching and fit the occasion perfectly.

My husband Jesse and Susie took care of the food all day. A big thank you to my husband for all the hard work he did, setting it up and cleaning it up. We had a great time!

Next year the reunion will be on Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Brown County State Park, at the Lower Shelter. It will be a pitch in meal again.
I heard that Kenny said he would bring his fiddle and Bob said he would bring his fiddle & banjo next year!

If you'll be coming to next years reunion email me for more information.Let me know where you're coming from and how many will be with you.
I hope to see you there, we have a much bigger shelter for the next one and hope all our Sherrill cousins can be there!
