DOCUMENT: Will of John Sowle
SOURCE: Monroe County (Indiana) Historical Society, P-3-41
I, John Sowle, of the County of Monroe and State of Indiana, of sane mind
and in view of the very great uncertainty of life and of the probability of
the nearness of death, truely mindful to the most merciful, all wise God,
my Heavenly Father, for his great goodness and many mercies, do hereby make
& devise to be executed and recorded this the following as my last will
and testament, viz.
I will & bequeath to my beloved wife Suzan Ann Sowle (formerly Suzan Ann
Woodward) all of my worldly goods & possessions that may remain after all
necessary and ordinary expenses of last illness & burial (one illegible
word) and all just, equitable claims now existing against me or that may
hereafter be brought against my estate are fully met & paid. And for the
true and faithful execution of the above, I hereby appoint Silas J.
Thompson as executor.
Made and acknowledged this 13th day of August 1867.
John Sowle
NOTE: Witnessed by James F. Dodds, George B. Rader, William B. Alexander,
and James Dearmin. Proven on August 24, 1867. This will was quite faded
and difficult to read.
