SUCCESSFUL BLOOMINGTON BOY ASSISTANT MANAGE OF THE BIG SHOW

Roy M. Feltus, assistant manager of the Forepaugh and Sells Bros. shows,
was born on South Walnut Street, this city, in the C. C. Turner property,
the year that "Blue Jeans" Williams was elected governor. His first
experience in the show business was when his father, H. J. Feltus, was
manager of the opera house. H. B. Gentry saw that there was much promise
in the boy and engaged him to go ahead of the show to put out picture
boards and to distribute bills. Roy made good from the start and arose
rapidly to the responsible position of local contractor. His next
advancement was to general agent, the highest position in advance of the
show, and a highly responsible one. The following season he was offered a
position by the Ringling Bros. as 24-hour man for their show. The next
winter he went out as manager of Billy Clifford, playing opera houses of
the larger cities, and as proof that his ability and faithfulness had won
the confidence of the Ringling Bros. they sent him a telegram offering the
position he now holds. He is now one of the very few men who receive a
salary all the year around in the business and very few men, if any, at the
age of 30 years has attained such a high position in the business which he
is filling to the satisfaciton of his employers and with credit to himself.
