ONLY ONE SALOON
And in Six Weeks More There Will Be No Retail Ones Here
Bloomington now has only one licensed retail saloon.
The John Dressel saloon license expired last night and this morning Crit
Shaw holds the only license in town to retail liquor in less quantities
than five gallons at a time. The license of Mr. Shaw expires February 1st.
Nearly all of the former retail saloon proprietors have opened up
government saloons, and in order to get a drink, it is necessary to buy a
case of five gallons of beer and tickets are issued and each time a man
gets a bottle, his ticket is punched until the ticket is used up. There
were formerly thirteen saloons here.
