MARKETS BY WIRE

W. O. Stephenson, who with his wife is here from Chicago visiting his
mother, Mrs. Bradbury of West 6th Street, says it is quite likely that a
special wire will be run into Bloomington from the board of trade at
Chicago to give stock quotations first hand. He is employed on the board
of trade by the brokerage firm of Ware and Leland which has special wires
to Terre Haute and other Indiana towns. The conditions of the wire being
run here will be the securing of suitable quarters and an operator and
competent local man to conduct the business for their brokers. It will
not mean the re-establishment of a "bucket shop" which is under the ban in
Indiana because of the state law, but will be a legitimate branch of Ware
and Leland's business.
