Bloomington (IN) Republican Progress, November 10, 1880, p. 2.
Whenever you widen or improve a street in such manner as to make it
attractive, it naturally draws to it a better class of tenants or
purchasers. The tendency is to secure a better class of citizens in that
special locality, and the drunken, disreputable characters that occupy it
remove to cheaper quarters. West Sixth Street is no exception to this
rule, but we regret to learn that there are persons who oppose such
improvements.
