COLORED MEN AT LINTON
As there has been no colored man in Linton for fifteen years,
much comment
was caused, last night when A. T. Rogers, colored, arrived in
the city and
sought a boarding and lodging house. On account of the
well-known prejudice
against the colored people in that city, he had much trouble
finding a stopping
place and finally asked the aid of the police as the hotels
would not admit him.
Rogers is employed in the railway mail service. He took the
matter good
naturedly and has the assurance that he may remain a week or
ten days
without molestation.
