Salt Creek Community clipping file, Monroe County Historical Society,
(Bloomington IN) Saturday Courier, Feb 12, 1887.

Died at his residence in Salt Creek Township, January 29, 1887, John D.
Simpson, after a brief illness of heart disease. Deceased was a soldier in
the late war and was respected by all.
