Hello,

I have been a member of the Monroe List for quite a while - I don't think
y'all are missing anything. This list is generally very active and has many
great folks that volunteer their time to post Monroe Co data. I think after
you have been on this list for a short time you will find that it is by far
the best you will participate in and the the people on this list are very
kind, knowledgeable!, and very generous - I think many of us feel that way.
Periodically there are a few days that new data doesn't come thru but be
patient... things will pick up again soon.

Maybe a good idea when things get slow is to post what family you are
researching... hopefully you can connect up with someone already on the list.
Please share your family search with us - we'd love to help if we can. : )
So WELCOME : )

MY FAMILY:
I am looking for folks with a connection to the RIDDLE, PARKS, and ANDERSONs
of Monroe Co. I am seeking information of the following Riddles that lived
in Monroe Co, IN at some time and trying to piece any connection together
that might be there and any links I can find to Riddle families in KY. I
suspect the my William Riddle 1803-1840 may be brother to George Washington
Riddle, b 1807 in KY.

1. William Riddle born 1803 KY, married Polly Parks 1830 in Monroe Co, IN;
died 1840 in Monroe Co, IN. Their children William T, Priscilla Caroline,
George Marion, and Harrison H Riddle.

2. Washington Riddle, buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Monroe Co, IN; no
dates - War of 1812 on stone. (wondering if this is the father of George
Washington Riddle 1807-1892 and/or my William Riddle 1803-1840, have not
found military records for this Riddle yet)

3. George Washington Riddle, born 1807 KY; married Margaret Johnson 1841 in
Monroe Co, IN; died 1892 in Monroe Co, IN. Their children Clarissa, William,
Sarah Ann, Hopy Jane, Elizabeth, and James A Riddle.

4. John Riddle, appears 1830 Monroe Co, IN Census as follows
males - 2 (0-5), 1 (5-10), 1 (10-15), 2 (15-20), 1 (40-50)
females - 1 (0-5), 1 (15-20), 1 (40-50)
(this family disappears by the 1840 census - have not found anything further)

5. Anyone have any information about the following 3 Riddle families that
entered land in Monroe Co, Indiana in 1856? Are they related to George
Washington Riddle 1807-1892 and/or William Riddle 1803-1840 both of whom
resided in Monroe Co, IN prior to 1856?

Were these 3 guys brothers??
James Riddle of Dearborn Co, IN bought land in Monroe Co, IN 1 Sept 1856
John J Riddle of Dearborn Co, IN bought land in Monroe & Brown Co, IN 1
Sept 1856
Samuel J Riddle of Dearborn Co, IN bought land in Monroe Co, IN 1 Sept 1856

Would love to exchange information on these families. Please post to the
list or email direct.

Cathy Riddle O'Connor
