County Historical Society (MCHS).

MILLER, William Ballard/Bart
Died on Nov. 28, 1883 from consumption. The son-in-law of Gamel/Gammel
Peterson.
Bloomington Republican Progress, Dec. 5, 1883.
Newspaper Archives, I.U. Library. [See above note.]
Note: Monroe Co. Death Index 1882-1920 lists William B. Miller, male,
white, age 30, d. Nov. 27, 1884. (This must have been a typographical error.
Should be 1883 instead of 1884.) Recorded in book H-12, p. 10.
Mr. Miller is buried in Mt. Gilead Cemetery near Unionville, east of
Bloomington. Tombstone reads: Ballard Miller, b. March 1854, d. 11-17-1883.
Both his death notice and his tombstone agree that William Ballard Miller
died in 1883, so the Monroe Co. Death Index is incorrect.
Mr. Miller's death notice referred to him as Bart Miller, the death index
as William B. Miller, and his tombstone as Ballard Miller, however, the
evidence appears to be conclusive that Bart, William B., and Ballard are all
one and the same person.
