WILLIAM RAMSEY IS DEAD.

William Ramsey died Sunday morning.

His death was unexpected and under the circumstances was unusually sad. As
will be recalled, he was the foreman of the wrecking crew of the Monon
railway, and two weeks ago while at work about the yards was run over by a
train. He was carrying a barrel on his shoulders, and while waiting for
one train to pass, another backed down on him. His left leg was so mangled
that amputation was necessary. He stood the operation very well and it was
thought that he would recover. A few days ago, however, internal injuried
developed, and it was evident that his condition was critical. He grew
worse Saturday night, suffering undescribable agony until within a short
time of his death, which occurred shortly after 6 o'clock. In answer to a
telegram, Dr. Davis, chief surgeon of the Monon, arrived on the 3 a. m.
train, but dissolution had already set in.

Mr. Ramsey will be buried at New Albany. He was one of the substantial men
on the line, and was a man who made many friends. He was a veteran and a
member of the G. A. R., an Odd Fellow and a Red Man.

Short funeral services were held at the house of Mr. Ramsey this afternoon.
The remains will be taken to New Albany tomorrow on the accommodation and
it is probably that a special car will be furnished for the various orders.
