Bloomington Telephone, February 17, 1893, p. 4.

John Barnhill died at Unionville Feb. 12th of heart failure, in his 81st
year. He was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, and when a small boy, with
his parents, moved to Carroll County, Ohio. He was married to Jane
McNeely, March 31st, 1836. She survives him and is in her 76th years.
They moved to Monroe County, Indiana, in September 1856. He leaves three
sons, Thomas Barnhill, who lives at Unionville, and Robert and Jack
Barnhill, who live at Kansas. He was a member of the United Brethren
Church, and was a kind husband and an indulgent parent. His remains were
buried in the Unionivlle Cemetery Tuesday.
