Bloomington Telephone, February 17, 1893, p. 1.

When Newel Sanders first platted the town of Sanders, north of Smithville,
it was with the idea of prohibiting the sale of intoxicating liquors in the
new town. To that end he placed a clause in each deed providing that in
case property owners sold intoxicants on the premises, real estate should
revert back to Mr. Sanders. It is now claimed that such a clause only
gives property in trust to buyers unless this provision is obeyed, and upon
this ground the loan association refused to lend money on mortgages. For
this reason. Mr. Sanders has given notice that he has withdrawn the
restriction.
