Bloomington Weekly Telephone, January 22, 1881, p. 2.

Mrs. Maggie Kirk, who has been a guest of her father, William Johnson,
for
the past four months, returned to her home at Martinsville, Wednesday,
accompanied by her sister, Ida.

This William Johnson is undoubtedly the one mentioned in the 1880
Bloomington Twp census of Monroe Co., In. The entry for the family is:
Wm. J. Johnson age 58 and his wife, Elizabeth Johnson, age 57, both born
in SC. Wm. J's parents were from Scotland, Elizabeth's from Ireland.
Their children still in the household were: Allice M. age 19 and Ida,
age 17 . Also in their household was Geo. C. Holley, a servant. The
next census entry is for the family of a Robt. S. Johnson, age 60, also
from SC with parents from Scotland. In his household is his wife Mary
and five children, all born in In, and Robt's mother-in-law, Jennett
Brown, age 63, of SC
Alan in Virginia
