In the Bloomington Republican Progress on September 3, 1895, two deaths
were noted under Salt Creek items.

1. "Frank Southers, a five-year-old son of Melvin Southers, died August 14
and was buried the 15th."

2. "Mr. Vanderman, about 75 years old, died at his residence near Belmont
Friday night, August 23, of consumption.
