Subject: RAWAL PINDI PARADE 1905
Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1998 20:16:15 +1000
G'day folks,
I have in my possession a programme for a parade held in Rawal Pindi
in 1905 for the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
All Battalions on parade are mentioned together with their
commanding officers.
There is no-one mentioned below the rank of Colonel.
I enclose an extract here. If anyone would like the full programme,
they may send an email to me. The file is in the format of an MS
Word 97 file totaling only 47 Kb.
It is interesting to note that there were no less than 4 VC holders
on parade. Total number of men was 55,516, while there was a total
of 13,396 horses. The little boys with the little buckets and
shovels would have been kept busy, While for the
infantry......imagine having to march past after the Cavalry had
been through! :-)
Cathy, if you would like this file to put up on your India page,
you're welcome to it.....I can send it to you in HTML format.
