Subject: TART / TARTAKOWSKY / TARAKOVSKY

I'm trying to find information on this family. I have reason to believe
that the name TART was shortened from TARTAKOWSKY or TARAKOVSKY, that
they came from Russia, possibly Kiev. My uncle was David James Tart but
went by James Tart. I've been told that he came to the United States
when he was about ten years old. He had a brother named Harry that
operated a grocery store in Davenport, Scott county Iowa. James was born
sometime between 1893 and 1900. There is a discrepancy concerning his
age at the time of death. His obit. says 38 but I've been told it was
31. He was a chef at the Hotel Kirkwood in Des Moines, Polk county Iowa
when he died. He ws married to May WATSON at this time and they had two
children. I believe he may be buried in the Tri-City Jewish Cemetery in
Davenport, possibly with more of his family. If anyone knows anything
about these people, please contact me. Thank you.
