FORMER RESIDENT M.A. MUGAN DIES
Emmetsburg- Funeral services were held at St. Thomas church here May 15
for Michael A. (Mike) Mugan, 78, retired granite and marble cutter who died
May 12 following a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.W.
Schuller, near Mallard.
Mr. Mugan was born in Jefferson Aug. 26, 1872, the son of Thomas P. and
Ann Brennan Mugan. He grew to manhood in the Jefferson vicinity, moving to
Emmetsburg when he was 21.
He is survived by a brother, T.A. Mugan, of Jeferson, six grandchildren
and his four children, John J. Mugan, George F. Mugan, both of Emmetsburg
and Mrs. Mary Schuller of Mallard and W.R. Mugan of Seatlle, Washington.
Interment was made at the St. John's cemetery in Emmetsburg.
Pallbearers were Casper Rasmussen, Stanley Price, Robert J. Carney, John
Noland, Raymond Lee and Gene Murphy.
Mr. Mugan married Bridget Pender Feb. 23, 1903. She preceded him in
death.
Three years ago he lettered his own tombstone and had it set up in the
family lot here in Emmetsburg.
