Looking for further info on any of these McNally descendants. I have some
contact with some of the descendants of his son, William McNally. In case
you had ancestors involved in the Civil War I have included part of the
pension file for Alexander McNally below which contained lots of info I had
not found elsewhere. Alexander was my gg grandfather's brother. These
McNallys originally emigrated from Co. Mayo, Ireland to Wisconsin to Iowa.

Declaration for an Original Invalid Pension
State of Iowa, County of Palo Alto
On this 22nd day of June A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty
personally appeared before me clerk of the District Court of Record within
and for the county and State aforesaid Alexander McNalley aged 33 years, who
being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical
Alexander McNalley who was enrolled on the 30th day of March 1864 company
"D" of the 17th regiment of Wis Vol Infantry commanded by Col.
Moloy(?) .discharged at Louisville, Ky on the 14th day of July 1865 that his
personal description is as follows: Age, 33 years; height 5 feet 7 inches;
complexion fair; hair, black; eyes black. That while a member of the
organization aforesaid in the service and in the line of his duty at near
Atlanta in the state of Georgia on or about the 22nd day of July 1864 he was
diseased with some kind of fever which settled in his left side and left
shoulder and ever since that time he has been diseased with heart disease
and rheumatism in the left side and left shoulder and left arm and
frequently over his entire body so that he has not been able to obtain his
subsistence by normal labor at any time since his discharge to our said
service. And has not been able to perform normal labor on account of said
disability. That he was treated in hospitals as follows: In hospital in the
field ??? Hospital near Atlanta Georgia in July and August 1864 and at Rome
Georgia in August and September 1864.
That since leaving the service this applicant has resided in the counties
of Jefferson and Waukesha in the State of Wisconsin and in Palo Alto and
Cerro Gordo Counties in Iowa and his occupation has been that of lived on a
farm but not able to follow any occupation.. That prior to entry into the
service above named he was a man of good, sound physical health, being when
enrolled a farmer. That he is now totally disabled from obtaining his
subsistence by manual labor, by reason of his injuries, above described
received in the service of the United States; and he therefore makes this
declaration for the purpose of being placed on the invalid pension roll of
the United States. He hereby appoints with full power of substitution and
revocation Curtis, Earle & Burdett of Washington D.C. his true and lawful
attorney to prosecute his claim. That he has not received nor heretofore
applied for a pension; that his residence is No. Owens Twp, Cerro Gordo
County, Iowa and that his post office address is: Rockford, Floyd County,
Iowa.

Alexander McNalley, a pvt of Company D, 17th Regiment Wis Volunteers, was
enrolled on the 30 day of March, 1864 at Watertown and is reported on roll
for July and Aug '64, absent Without remarks (Roles from Jan 1-64 to June
30-64 not on file) Return for July '64, "absent sick". Role for Sept and Oct
64 not on file. Nov and Dec '64 present. Same to April 30-65. Role for May
and June '65, not on file. Mustered out with Co. July 14-65.
Company Morning Reports July 7th 1864 show him sent to Hospital 3rd Div 17th
Al, Sept 16th 1864 returned to Company.
The recorder of this office do not show disabilities alleged.
Nature of sickness not stated.
Regimental Hospital Records not on file.
