I am interested in your Thomas McLaughlin.

I have a Thomas and Ann McLaughlin who moved from Ohio to Clayton couny,
Iowa then to Emmetsburg by 1870. Thomas died there before 1880.

Their chn: Mary, Harriett, Eliza, Henry, Emmeline, Ellen, Thomas, Marion,
Sarah, Nancy, Lydia, Lucy

Thomas was born in 1858. Could he be your Thomas? He was not living with
his mother in the 1880 census.

I am desc from Ellen b. 1857, she married John Monk
