The first three children of Chas. Wm. BENTRUP and his wife Mary (Jecklin)
BENTRUP were born in Palo Alto County, per the family Bible. They were:
Margaret Bertha, b. 10 May 1889; Paul Henry, b. 18 July 1891; and Anna
Elisa, b. 15 May 1893. The latter two died at Des Moines, IA, Paul on 24
March 1896 and Anna on 27 Dec. 1895. Margaret Bertha md. Chas. STAGGS on/about
30 June 1912 in Lonoke Co., AR. The Chas. Wm. BENTRUP family was living
in Des Moines, 1895-96; in Minburn, Dallas Co., IA, in 1898; in Camden
Co., MO, from 1900 through 1908; and in Arkansas by 1910. Chas. Wm.'s brother
Gustavus Siegel BENTRUP was probably with this family in Palo Alto County
in the 1889-1893 period, and he returned (from Dallas Co.) and lived in
Mallard from 1910 through at least 1920 (from census). My question is,
did "Gus" die in the county, and is anything known about him? He was living
alone or as a boarder from 1900-1920, and a letter between his brothers
mentions that he "likes to hunt."
