Hello All,
I am researching the Peter CARMODY family who came to the USA 1849. He
was born circa 1813 in County Clare Ireland and married Bridget FLANAGAN in
Ireland. They had 13 children. One died young. They came to Iowa and
settled south of Marshalltown, Iowa near Haverhill.
Also researching the James KEENAN family who came to the USA 1840.
James was born Louth County Ireland circa 1821. He married Julia WARD in
Ireland 1939. She died 1845 in state of New York. Later he married Mary
WELSH/WALSH in New York. 5 children were born in NY. Later they went to
Wisconsin. 5 more children were born in Wisconsin. Later they were found
in Ackley, Iowa. Parents buried in Kingsley, IA. They were living with a
son in Pierson, Iowa.
We do not know where in Clare or Louth they were from. Always a brick
wall. James KEENAN was said to be the seventh son in his family. Guess
that was considered to be lucky, so he told his seventh son, my great
grandfather.
