Dear Cathy,
The Irish Surnames that I'm trying to trace are GREEHEY (GREEHY), HANRAHAN,
O'CONNOR, LONERGAN, REEDY, KELLY, HALLIGAN. Other names connected to this
family are: O'CONNELL, CASEY, RODDY, CONDON and .BAILEY
My 2nd g-grandmother was Mary Jane GREEHEY, born 31 Oct., 1872;
the daughter of Bridget/HANRAHAN/ , born 28 Feb 1842, and
Jeremiah GREEHEY(dates unknown).
I believe they lived in or around KILBEHENNY, Co. LIMERICK. I have been
unable to trace anything on the GREEHEY line as it is a very uncommon name
in Ireland.
Mary Jane GREEHEY came to the US at about age 16.
She married Franklin B. BENTON on 14 Feb 1899, at Webster City, IA.
They lived in Duncombe until 1919, then moved to Fort Dodge.
Bridget/HANRAHAN/Greehey was born in Co. Limerick.
She came to the US in 1909 settling in Webster County.
Her siblings also came to the US (not known if with Bridget or separately).
Bridget's parents were Daniel HANARAHAN and Johanna BAILEY.
I have no dates on either of them. They had 13 children but, I only have
the names of six of them.
They were:
Bridget (see above)
John HANRAHAN (diedWebster City, IA) md Margaret Elizabeth O'CONNOR
Daniel HANRAHAN (died Duncombe, IA) md Catherine LONERGAN
William HANRAHAN (died Frot Dodge, IA) md Mary REEDY
Ellen HANRAHAN (died Duncombe, IA) md John Henry KELLY
Michael HANRAHAN (died Duncombe, IA) md Leora HALLIGAN;
Johanna BAILEY was the daughter of Patrick BAILEY and Anna CONDON.
Johanna had a brother by the name of Francis, believed to have been born
1829 in Mitchelstown
A son of this Francis BAILEY, Maurice Joseph BAILEY, married Bridget Marie
O'CONNOR,
the sister of Margaret Elizabeth O'CONNOR who married John HANRAHAN(above)
Any connections ???
Or can someone help me find where exactly these families were located ???
- so I know what Civil Parish, Poor Law Union, Township and Catholic parish,
to search for them.
I'd be grateful For any leads.
Mary Bittick
