Hello Cathy,
After I found the right family in Iowa that I was looking for, I traced
census records backwards to the place they had moved from prior to arriving
in Iowa. Then looked on Roots Web State Archives trying to find the right
family and after many hours of looking thru many pages I found them in the
records. And that gave me another County to look in for the family. And then
again I concentrated on that county on Roots Web online records. Then after
I found some records and was satisfied that was the correct family I
contacted The Historical Societies in all States to get more records and
what ever info they had on the family. Then I worked on the State the
parents were born in. And I found again online thru Roots Web my John
Wilson's Will and census records in Clinton County, NY. And his will and
other records found online in NY stated that John Wilson was born in Tyrone
Co., Ireland.
I have not yet been so lucky with my McKee line. I do know that they came
from Ireland. But I have not found all the records in Iowa as of yet. But I
do have them going from Ireland to Essex Co., NY, to Jefferson Co., WI., to
Bradford Twp., Chickasaw Co., IA.
