Maggie, Holy Trinity Catholic church and cemetery are adjacent to New
Melleray. The records are held at Peosta, Iowa. I tried a few years ago to
obtain records from them, but got no answer. The archivist at the
Archdiocese of Dubuque told me that the priest at Peosta will not release
records. Perhaps things have changed, so you may want to inquire. The
Archdiocese of Dubuque office address is: 1229 Mt. Loretta Ave., P.O. Box
479, Dubuque, Ia.,52004-0479. Tel. # : (319) 556-2580
New Melleray has a web site at http://www.newmelleray.org/index.html<http://www.newmelleray.org/index.html>. If
you go to that site and click on "history" you will find a very interesting
account written by Bother Kieran, one of the original monks at the abbey.
Good luck,
Mary Kay
