Up here in North Dakota we credit the Germans for starting the Chivaree or
Cheveree, but the same things go on. ;)

In Arkansas they has a term called something that sounds like "Cheveree"
which probably came from Ireland........though not necessarily.
Young marrieds entered their home on their wedding night and their friends
camped by a bonfire all night and kept the newlyweds awake by dragging
sticks along the clapboard sideing, howling at the moon, drinking moonshine
and playing bad music.
Probably remember other practices I heard about ifin I think upon it awhile.
