JOHN ASHE and his bride, Anna Ward ASHE arrived in Black Hawk Co. Iowa in
1853. John was born in Co. Kerry, Ireland in 1819, Anna b: Maryland, 1835.
They eventually bought property and John became a successful farmer, member
of the school board, active in his church and in the community. Anna was
midwife for the area. They had six children who grew up in the Cedar
Township,LaPorte City area. The parents with some of their children are
buried at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Eagle Center,Black Hawk Co., Iowa.


MATHIAS FLAHERTY, b: 1826, Ireland m, lst, Katherine, Ireland Four
children
m: 2) Johanna Kennedy, Ireland. Eleven children, all born in Black
Hawk Co., Iowa, beginning in 1877 (note: I have the names and birth dates
if anyone is interested)

JOHN CONNOR, b: 1814, Ireland, m: Bridget, b: 1825, Ireland
Three children born in Pennsylvania, 1845-1850
One chilld, born in Illinois, 1852
Three children born in Black Hawk Co., Iowa, 1856-1860.
(I also have these names and birth years)

All three of these families owned adjoining farms In Black Hawk County.

As a child my husband, Robert Ashe, remembers playing with Flaherty and
Connor "cousins" when the family visited in Iowa. John Ashe had a son
John (b: 1869), Black Hawk Co., Iowa, who never married. A copy of his will
states "I leave all my possessions to my cousins, Genevieve and Lenore
Flaherty"

We have never know exactly how these families were related. Any
information will be gratefully received.
