Subject: [IA-IRISH] "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water" Origin of this saying
Date: Thu, 7 Feb 2002 10:31:54 EST
Originating from the 16th century::::
"Dont throw the baby out with the bath water"
A big tub was filled with hot water for baths. The man of the house had the
privilege of the first bath with its nice, clean water. All the other sons
and men went next, then the women, and finally the children and babies. By
the last bath, the water was so dirty, that you could actually lose someone
in it.
