I went to a public high school but we had "slip inspections". We were
checked while changing to and from our Gym clothes. Woe unto you if you
were caught without a slip on under your dress or blouse and skirt.
Detention!! Getting sent to the Dean's Office!! We had to wear bobby sox
with our loafers (we could put pennies in them) or white bucks or saddle
shoes. Nylons were NOT allowed.
