HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!

I have following these wonderful Irish memories that so many
of us have. I have to throw in a few of mine.
My mother was from Ahascragh, Co. Galway and
did not lose her brogue when she came to the states.
Almost every night we had biled (boiled) potatoes, we used
pamolive (palmolive) soap and brought home palms
on Pam Sunday. During WW2, she was always
concerned about her red and blue pints (points),
would there be enough to last the month.
On this day 1-1, we always visited neighbors,
no calling ahead, no telephones. Everyone greeted you
with the best the New Year had to offer.
I send these greetings to you now. All the best the
New Year has to offer.

Sincerely, Mary Sheridan Swatta
