There was a Mary Ann Dillon who married Thomas Kirby in Sioux City Iowa. His
obit is on that Descendants of Michael Jackman page I mentioned was just

BRENNAN
As for the marriage to a Brennan- I have the 1880 IA Soundex for Brennans
and it shows one in Woodbury, Co.

There were at least 5 different BRENNAN families identified in Palo Alto Co,
IA. Two of the large Brennan families intermarried making for some confusing
research. However, all these Brennans dispersed to different areas of Iowa.

: With all the references to the name Sweeney it's got me thinking maybe
: someone on the list may be able to help me. I'm looking for my
: GGrandfather's brother's family. His brother John Dillon b abt 1860 in
: Glasgow, Scotland to Irish parents John Dillon and Ann Birnie. They came
: to the US in May 1869 and are in Dubuque, IA on the 1870 census. Father,
: John has passed away by 1880 and Mother, Ann by 1885. In 1885 John son
: is listed living with older brother Charles and his family and is listed
: as being a plumber. Some time after that John marries Margaret/Maggie
: Sweeney/ Sweeny. I don't know if this occured in Dubuque Co. or in
: Woodbury Co. IA. I'm not sure if this is correct even, but Grandma said
: John lived in Sioux City, IA and had children Mary and Michael and she
: was pretty sure his wife was Aunt Maggie. I have found on some census
: records in that area John Dillon, wife Maggie, children Patrick, John,
: Margaret, Joseph, James, Mary, Michael, Emmette, Anna. On the 1910
: census John is gone Maggie is a widow and Michael is no longer listed
: either. 9 children born 8 living. John most likely having died abt
: 1904. We have a 1920 family obit that shows John deceased. It also
: lists two daughters who have married a Walters and a Brennan living Sioux
: City.
