Mary Kay,
One suggestion that I have is that you try the Archdiocese of Dubuque,
at Dubuque, Iowa. I found my ggrandparents, Pierre Pellerin and Catherine
Cassidy married in 1847 at San Raphael's Cathedral, in Dubuque...after
thinking for several years that they had married in Iowa, we found that
Dubuque, Iowa was also known as East Dunlieth, Illinois for some time prior
to the borders changing location. I don't know where Savanna, Illinois is
located, but try the bordering state for the marriage record. I am
suggesting Dubuque, thinking that I saw Stephenson county on the West side
of Illinois, but I don't have a map in front of me.
If you call the Archdiocese, they will want an approximate marriage
date. Try a time frame of 9 to 18 months before the birth of the first
child....that has helped us a lot, thinking that the first children were
born shortly after the marriage. If they were Catholic, the church should
have a record of the marriage that you can send for. Good luck! Lillian
Heeren
