I have Ronan ancestors in Allamakee also. My great-grandfather was John Ronan,
born 1818 in County Cork, Ireland. Married Margret Ring and had the following
children; Johanna, Michael E, John F, Dennis D (my grandfather), Charles and
James, all born in Iowa. But I don't have anything on a Patrick Ronan. Do you
know anything of his parents?
