My grgrandfather, John SHERIDAN died July 6, 1873 and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, in Dubuque. In same lot is Mary, d. 9-6-1891, Rosie, d. 6-16-1888.

in 1870 census - City of Dubuque, Ward 1
John SHERIDAN, 40, b. Ireland - Mary, 40, b. Ireland - Katie, 18 b. Missouri - Julia, 15, Mary 14, Margaret 9, William, 6, Rose 4, John, 3 mo. all born in Iowa

in 1880 census - Dubuque
Mary SHERIDAN, 54, Mary 23, Margaret 17, William 16, Rosa 14, John 10

QUESTIONS: Where in Iowa did he live when his six youngest children were born?
I could not find them in Dubuque census prior to 1870.
Where did he marry Mary ? - Missouri, where first child born?
Where born in Ireland? Unable to get DOI or naturalization papers.

There is a John J. SHERIDAN, grocer, and Bartholomew SHERIDAN IN Dubuque, but I don't believe there is a connection.

My grandfather, Patrick GORDON, died 6-18-1924, and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque. In same lot is wife, Mary (SHERIDAN) GORDON, d. 3-27-1911, and Margaret GORDON, d. 10-24-1918.

Patrick and Mary were married 10-8-1887 in St. Columbkil in Dubuque.

The earliest census I could find them in was 1900 in Dubuque, Ward 1, Patrick, b. June 1853 in Ireland, with wife Mary, and children Margaret 11, Harry 7, Mary 6, Justin 4, and Rose 2.

QUESTION: Where was Patrick GORDON prior to marriage? Census says he immigrated in 1870. Been unable to find DOI or naturalization. I found his brother James GORDON in Cherokee Co. in 1880, and 1900, and brother George GORDON in Cherokee Co. in 1900, and in Lemars, Plymouth Co. in 1920.

ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
