Folks,
I have a question regarding these dialects. Would they effect how a surname is spelled? Would it be
different in one region verses another due to the local dialect? I also wonder how common the dialects
really are. For instance, the Normans must have been a small portion of the Normandy population.
They seem to have adapted to the Frankish culture pretty thoroughly. So how much inflence could they
have actually had on the local dialect? Would the peasant working the fields have talked like his
Norman lord?
