Hi -

Is anyone researching the de Savoie/Savoy line? I am descended from Isaac de
Savoie who was christened in 1617 at the French Huguenot Church on
Threadneedle Street in London. His parents were Joshue and Madeleine de
Savoie. Sponsors were Isaac Denis and Ann Herbert. In 1670, Isaac Savoy and
his wife, Martha, are living in Maryland and received land for coming there
and bringing others with them to settle the colony. A few years later, Isaac
Savoy is in New Jersey where he married Brita Hendrickson. I assume that his
wife, Martha, had died, although I cannot find a record of her death. Isaac
died in 1695, leaving his wife and a number of children. I wonder if the
Isaac Savoy in New Jersey is the same Isaac Savoy who was born in England, or
if it is his son?

I am also descended from Edward Roche/de la Roche/la Roche, who was born in
Passage West, County Cork, Ireland in 1754. There are two stories about when
he came to America. One says he came at the age of one month (which would
mean he was born at sea), and the other says he came in 1777 to join General
Washington's army and fight in the Revolution. Family tradition says that he
was a French Huguenot, although in this country he belonged to the
Episcopalian Church.

Any info you can provide will be gratefully received.

Mary
