In cleaning our my mothers home I found four forks (sterling) with the left tine ( prong) missing. Ideas have been --- done to eat (pick) crabs to feeding a baby. Has anyone ever run into this in the past? Three forks are from T. Hausmanns and Sons (New Orleans jewelry store) and one is from a Charleston Silversmith line. The three were my Grandmother's -- she lived in New Orleans from about 1908 until 1958. Mom, born 1906, visited an Aunt in Charleston as a teenager - (abt. 1920-1925) so I'm guessing one came from the family there.
Has anyone any ideas as to why -- I could see one breaking -- but not four -- Hate to have them repaired if there is a good story to put with them.
Any and all ideas will be appreciated.
Kinta
My apologies if you receive this more than once.
