There are still thousands of genealogists who do not use computers or ever
will. Access to information on fiche and film is vital for them. At our
Public Library we have a small genealogy room with 6 fiche readers and have
the IGI; the NZ BDMs; NZ cemetery MIs; NZ Electoral Rolls; Street and
Business Directories; soldiers who enlisted in various wars; and a lot of UK
County records such as Pigots Directories; FHS members interests; other UK
material that compliments rather than duplicates the IGI for counties thinly
covered by the latter.
There is an LDS FHC as well in our town and the Public library does not (IGI
the exception) duplicate what they hold either.
