I agree with you. However, there are those of us in the U.S. who only know
the name, not the European country of origin. There may be lore in the
family that the ancestor(s) in question was/were Huguenot. I put a name out
on the list (Oakman/Ochman) in hopes that someone had run across it and
could direct me. All I got in response were questions about the European
country of origin. I have no idea. I am trying to acertain that.
What do you suggest in cases such as this?
