hi shirley, this is a nongenealogical question ;).
i'd like to go to new zealand this winter, that is, what's winter for me in
northern california, which is summer for you down under. what is the best
time to visit? don't want to run into holiday crowds, but i'd like to get
nice weather. if possible i'd like to see both the north and south island,
but i'm particularly interested in queenstown and the milford sound area.
i've read that it's possible to camp or find bed and breakfasts that don't
cost an arm and a leg. i'm pretty adventurous, but my limiting factor
(beyond money, of course, i don't want to spend any more than i have to, and
i don't really like big glossy resorts, i prefer clean, cozy, and
unpretentious) is a bad back, which means i can't sleep on the bare ground
anymore like i could in my youth ;).
