Cher cousin Leon,

unfortunately, the CD-ROM only contains German phone books with about 34
millions of entries. I don't know if there is a similar CD-ROM available for or
in France.

Did you try to make a search by using Minitel online (http://www.annu.com/annu/)
or Les Page Blanches (http://www.pageszoom.com/wbpm_pages_blanches.cgi)? The
handling is somewhat hard but these pages helped me to find out where GERBERTs
are living today in France.

Another posibilities may be Francêtres
(http://www.world-address.com/francetres/) or GeneaNet
(http://www.geneanet.org).

But nevertheless I made a search for you and found out only 5 VIA being on phone
here; as their names show, 4 of them are Italians and 1 seems to be English or
American.

Besides these persons, there are a lot of companies here having the name VIA or
V.I.A. and so on, as abbreviation for anything ...

Generally, on the integrated map you can't find out the origin of a family, but
sometimes you can narrow the search to a certain area here in Germany - if the
surname is not too common like "MEIER, MUELLER, SCHMIDT or SCHULZ", as we use to
say here (in France, the common surnames would be DUPONT and so on, right?).

Joyeux Pâques and Happy Easter to you and all my cousins! :-)

Jurgen
