Hello list mates - from a confirmed lurker.

I have a little information up on my web page on the Soblet/Sublett - I
descend from Abraham Soblet of Manakintown, Va. I do not claim that
everything up there is 100% correct, please check my sources listed,
some are very good and some are iffy. If you find something that you
know is wrong or a typo please, please let me know. AND if you get a
404 error, please tell me, we have been working to fix it and I believe
all the links are now functional, but if not please tell.

I have the Soblet book by C Allen that I source quite a bit. I bought
it from the Detroit Genealogical Society and it was dirt cheap and the
research in it and sources etc. are professional quality. Most of the
book was printed in a periodical also, so you can photocopy it from any
library that holds the periodical. But honestly, if I had copied all of
what I needed it would have cost alot more than buying the book.

I feel the need to tell you I am not connected in anyway shape or form
with that society or the author, except I guess we are cousins, probably
10000 times removed. I just descend from Abraham Soblet and a handful
of others from Manakintown Settlement circa 1700.

I love to share and trade info. So please let me know if I can help you
further, esp. if something isn't sourced up on the web page. Everything
has a source, UFT just makes it difficult for me to get all the sources
up there. But please be patient if you email me.....I am just
recovering from major computer trouble and am a week+ behind on
correspondence.

Oh, yes, does anybody know anything about the passenger Claude Barbie
who disappeared (but did not die) from Manakintown apparently as soon as
possible. He came over on one of the three ships c. 1700, but I'm doing
this on memory and can't recall which one. If you know anything, I am
almost dying to prove this connection for a whole bunch of Barbee
researchers....I know someone did in early 1900, just can't find where
it disappeared to yet.

Thanks for reading.
