Found nothing about those, and the next step is finding two big books (in
a big Library) that give reference to printed genealogies:

1) Repertoire des Genealogies Imprimees (trois tomes) par Etienne ARNAUD,
editions Berger-Levrault
2) Bibliographie genealogique, heraldique et nobiliaire de la France des
origines a nos jours (quatre tomes) par Gaston Saffroy.

PONTGIBAUD is a nice clue, since I found only one such place in France:
it is a "chef lieu de canton"
724 inhabitants
arrondissement of RIOM
departement is 63 PUY DE DOME;tell me if you can't find it on a map

that place is near Clermont Ferrand, and your Jean might have been a
Chanoine (priest) of Clermont Ferrand?
