Hi list! Have you missed me? Don't answer that ;>)
I've been posting away with my gold mine genealogical finds on the SC
and AL lists and the Hugos in my past have been on hold a while.
Also, for those who have been awaiting your Hugo info from my trip to
DC, well, I haven't gotten there yet. When I do, it will probably be a
trip focused on SC and AL DuBois'. Hugo research will be delayed a
while.
BUT, I am learning a lot. You folks may remember I've been on a quest
to find out how my Hugos became Methodists. I am discovering that they
were Anglicans very early on in the US, becoming Methodists right at the
beginning of Methodism in the US. My goldmine unearthed yet another
Methodist minister in the direct line (for a total of 3 now)--this one
in Charleston, b. 1773. I am in contact with the historian at the
BETHEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Charleston. We are equally delighted
in our aquaintance--she because I have info for years in which they have
no church registers (stolen during the War)--I because she nonetheless
has a very rare book that I think will be very helpful.
Any SC Hugos who may have become Methodists, let me know your surnames
so I can be on the lookout.
And Sir Knecht--your invitation to JBS was so inviting that I'm thinking
of a way to angle a similar invite. Thank you for the FHL research into
Hugo books. Will discuss soon.
