the author says: in the 300 manuscripts viewed, we found a lot of
Montgommery genealogies different, wrong and contradictories

Ah, I bought a book during my vacations:

(I wanted it for a chapter on Thomas du Bosc, mayor in 1345)
let's try a translation of a few lines:
"At the death of Francois 1st, Catherine de Medicis got the power. After
Wassy, begining of religious wars, Rouen had ten thousands protestants
who took the place in the 15-16th of April 1561.. Lot of churhces
broken... Guise dealing with Philippe II of Spain ...Conde dealing with
Elisabeth of England.. (giving her Le Havre where I will travel on
Friday). The protestant governor of Rouen, MORVILLIERS, resigned and was
replaced by Montgommery (of king's eye fame).. Catholic army was leaded
by Guise and.. Antoine de Bourbon, king of Navarre and father of future
Henri IV!!. Great assault on 13 October 1561, repelled by Montgommery,
second assault on 23 Octobre 1561 where Montgommery and friends managed
to escape on a boat

I will try to find more when in Paris..
