Hi Marilyn, Chris, Jean Benedict, Frost and the rest of the St.Julien
whanau*
When I was in Charleston at the County Library last year I saw a set of
books called "Will & Misc. Records of Charleston County, South Carolina" and
in Volume 74, p144 is the Inventory of Joseph de St.Julien dated 2 May 1747.
All I noted from it was "horses, furniture etc; signed by Henry de
St.Julien". I have also made a note of my own, "could be his son ?"
Looking back at my notes from Charleston I have now a doubt about the names
on her list of 30 Aug where she lists Pul, Henry, and Joseph as being sons
of Pierre and Damaris E. I think they may be the sons of Pierre and
Damaris' son Pierre and Sarah.
My reason for this is that the Will of Damaris de St.Julien, widow of Pierre
recorded 14 June 1737 (Vol 70, p 70) lists as beneficiaries the following
people: her daughter Damaris E lizabeth Ravenel wife of Daniel Ravenel;
daughter Jeanne Marie wife of Isaac Mazyck;
granddaughter Damaris Elizabeth de St.Julien daughter of Pierre;
granddaughter Marianne Mazyck daughter of Isaac Mazyck;
son Pierre and HIS SONS Jaques, Paul Henry, and Joseph Chacun de St. Julien.
Does this make things clearer or more confused ? 8:)))))
I am sure that at the Huguenot Soc. library in Charleston they probably have
the full family tree of the St.Julien family. Does anyone belong to Soc.
or live near Charleston ?
* whanau is the Maori word for extended family
Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand, and their genealogy
(whakapapa) is very important to them.
(No, I am not a Maori, but NZ born, half English, half Irish.) My husband
is the Huguenot. Arabin family came from Riez, in Provence.
Shirley Arabin of sunny Mount Maunganui, NEW ZEALAND (the furthest outpost
of the Huguenot diaspora)
